my friends and i are planning on making soap for mother's day presents and for a facial bar we planned on adding either a rosemary peppermint blend (which is more easily obtained) or a tea tree essential oil. which one is mroe effective?
Tea tree oil can be found at health food stores. And while the scent is pungent, try mixing it (or you may find a blend) of tea tree and lavender oil. Tea tree is great for acne prone skin and lavender oil 'calms' the skin down - mixed together it's a nicer scent.
What a nice mother's day gift!!

I hear some of the oils help relax you such as euchalyptus and lavander. If a hotel gave samples in the room, would you like that?

I would like to try making my own candles.
Soy container candles are one of the easiest ways to get started in candle making. The basic machanics are the same for most container candles (molded/pillar candles are a little more complicated), but soy wax generaly does not require additional additives (although you can add them to improve burning), other than scent, and do not require "repours" like most other waxes.
There are some good sites:
http://www.candlesandsupplies.com (good for info, videos, etc)
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/candlemakingsurvival/ (great on-line group)
http://candleandsoap.about.com/ (good instructions)
http://www.candlecauldron.com/ (a very informative site)
http://www.chandlersclub.com/ (projects and more)
http://www.gatehousecandles.com/ (checkout the picture page)

Hope this helps!

If one has applied an essential oil that now doesn't smell all that excellent, how can one remove the scent? Yeah, if it on my hands go wash at a sink, but applied on my buttocks or legs how can I remove it until I can take a bath?
Try rubbing alcohol it removes scent and oils.

As I don't use air fresheners, I like to burn oils instead. The only problem is I don't like wasting so many tea light candles. Is there an environmentally friendly way to burn oil? I know you can get those rings you put on a hot lightbulb but I haven't got any lights they would fit on. Also the radiator ones aren't very useful in the summer when the heating isn't on. Thanks.
I cant help you on an alternative to heating oil, anything i would have suggested you've already listed as not being possible….the only thing i can suggest is using yr oils differently….i make up room spritzers……you get a cheap 'spritzer' bottle, the type that sprays water, in it i put cool boiled water and then my oils….give it a good shake and spray anything you want!! curtains, sofas, kids, the dog….basicially anything that needs fragrancing! my favourite is orange oil….its the most cheerful oil you can get and really lifts an atmosphere x

I got an email from this company about their network marketing plan for selling soy candles. I have had some success in the network marketing field in the past and know that with effort, it CAN be a profitable business but I am not familiar with this particular company and would like more info from anyone in the know about them.
Not familiar with this company, but I use soy candles from another company and prefer them over wax based ones because the do not produce as much soot (and not lead in the wicks). So, this companies products, which might be very good, do not appear to be very unique. Unfortunately, selling them as a network marketing business would seem to need a huge volume of customers and business builders to be successful. Soy candles last longer than wax and I buy perhaps two or three a year, at most (and I like candles). However, if you’ve been successful at network marketing, then you know that it can be done with a good marketing plan that brings prospects to you and maximized your time (as opposed to bugging your friends and family to death).

I was planning on making a small batch. Wondering what other soapers have liked in the way of aromatherapy essential oils (as oppossed to perfume fragrance) oil.
I know a lot of them aren’t suitable for handmade soap because of the termperature or expense. I was thinking of orange, patchouli or cedar.
Any suggestions?
Thanks all - be well
Tink
Lavender or sage. Love the orange thought also.

What is the best aromatherapy oil to use in a burner to help with skin problems.
for acne skin issues put some tea tree oil in a pot of boiling water and with a towel over you're head allow the steam to reach you're skin, be careful to not touch the water and turn off the stove when you do this so you dont catch the towel on fire!!! or put a few drops in very warm water soak a towel with it squeeze out excess water and lay it in a circle around the face leaving the nostrils free to breathe in fresh air and the vapors of the oil, For extra dry skin with no tendancies towards acne, mix some extra virgin olive oil with a drop of rose and lavander oil and apply to the skin, rose water can also be used as an very mild cleansing agent for dry sensitive skin, if psoriasis is the issue , apply evening primrose oil to the area…hope this helps!

Can I use soy candles for skateboarding(waxing ledges, curbs, etc)? I just ordered some and was wondering if they'd work like 'regular' candles.
yes anything thats made from oil or fats that are hardened should work. i usually used soap as my wax, but its a mess once it starts raining!

I want to use an essential oil as a body spray/perfume. Haven't got a clue how to go about it! I've heard of dry oils?…….. any help appreciated!
The best way I've found is to buy an unscented lotion (such as at the Body Shop, though I use Keri lotion)) and add a few drops of the oil to the bottle of lotion. Then shake it thoroughly.
A body spray is alcohol based, not oil based, so I don't know if that can be done.
You can also add a few drops of your oil to about a Tbsp of sweet almond oil, and dab it on pulse points like any perfume.
Read labels because some oils can be irritating to the skin-different people will react differently. i have really sensitive skin and I've never had any problems.
