This is for a couple of reasons. I found out that soy candles are not as environmentally friendly as they are cracked up to be. Vast swathes of rainforest are cut down to grow soy beans. The soy wax is a by-product produced when the oil is extracted.

Palm wax is a by-product of palm oil production but the trees last for years and rainforest is not destroyed to make it. I particularly like the patterns that the wax forms when it sets. The candles burn in just the same clean way as soy candles.

I’ve got so many dyes and scents that I’m going to have a go at selling them on ebay.

Tea tree oil can be found at health food stores. And while the scent is pungent, try mixing it (or you may find a blend) of tea tree and lavender oil. Tea tree is great for acne prone skin and lavender oil 'calms' the skin down - mixed together it's a nicer scent.

What a nice mother's day gift!!

As I don't use air fresheners, I like to burn oils instead. The only problem is I don't like wasting so many tea light candles. Is there an environmentally friendly way to burn oil? I know you can get those rings you put on a hot lightbulb but I haven't got any lights they would fit on. Also the radiator ones aren't very useful in the summer when the heating isn't on. Thanks.

I cant help you on an alternative to heating oil, anything i would have suggested you've already listed as not being possible….the only thing i can suggest is using yr oils differently….i make up room spritzers……you get a cheap 'spritzer' bottle, the type that sprays water, in it i put cool boiled water and then my oils….give it a good shake and spray anything you want!! curtains, sofas, kids, the dog….basicially anything that needs fragrancing! my favourite is orange oil….its the most cheerful oil you can get and really lifts an atmosphere x

I got an email from this company about their network marketing plan for selling soy candles. I have had some success in the network marketing field in the past and know that with effort, it CAN be a profitable business but I am not familiar with this particular company and would like more info from anyone in the know about them.

Not familiar with this company, but I use soy candles from another company and prefer them over wax based ones because the do not produce as much soot (and not lead in the wicks). So, this companies products, which might be very good, do not appear to be very unique. Unfortunately, selling them as a network marketing business would seem to need a huge volume of customers and business builders to be successful. Soy candles last longer than wax and I buy perhaps two or three a year, at most (and I like candles). However, if you’ve been successful at network marketing, then you know that it can be done with a good marketing plan that brings prospects to you and maximized your time (as opposed to bugging your friends and family to death).

What is the best aromatherapy oil to use in a burner to help with skin problems.

for acne skin issues put some tea tree oil in a pot of boiling water and with a towel over you're head allow the steam to reach you're skin, be careful to not touch the water and turn off the stove when you do this so you dont catch the towel on fire!!! or put a few drops in very warm water soak a towel with it squeeze out excess water and lay it in a circle around the face leaving the nostrils free to breathe in fresh air and the vapors of the oil, For extra dry skin with no tendancies towards acne, mix some extra virgin olive oil with a drop of rose and lavander oil and apply to the skin, rose water can also be used as an very mild cleansing agent for dry sensitive skin, if psoriasis is the issue , apply evening primrose oil to the area…hope this helps!

Can I use soy candles for skateboarding(waxing ledges, curbs, etc)? I just ordered some and was wondering if they'd work like 'regular' candles.
yes anything thats made from oil or fats that are hardened should work. i usually used soap as my wax, but its a mess once it starts raining!
