Do soy candles really last longer then other types?
I recently purchased a soy store and in the literature it suggest that soy burns cooler and therefore longer. The benefits of soy candles seem to grow as I do more research, but I want to know from soy candle users.
yes, soy candles burn cooler and cleaner. i use soy candles with essential oils for different purposes, for instance, lavender to help me sleep and eucalyptus to breathe easier. i will never go back to regular wax candles again.

Yes it lasts longer, the problem is the wick. Most wicks are made of cotton (if they are natural, DO NOT go with the lead or metal filled kind) and they burn faster than the soy base does. The other problem is the smell. Even with fragrance added, you can smell a strange 'aftersmell'. However there is a huge market for soy candles and I would be glad to be part of your new enterprise. Mail me if you have questions, or are interested.

Not only do they burn longer, because of low burn temperature. If they are trained carefully, they may last almost twice as long as a toxic paraffin candle. Considering if the soy candle is wicked with the correct size, and no metal cores as described in the prior post.
If you study soy candles long enough you will also hear the phrase, “soy candles have a memory” and this is true to a point. It will remember the size of the wax pool it had when last put out and keep that same pool, and some tunneling will result.
So to have a soy candle last the longest always burn till the wax pool is clear across the top. The put out and light another.
On most well made jar soy candles they will be double wicked and this kinda eliminates any tunneling, no matter how long you let it burn.
Also when you get down to the bottom you may have some wax that doesn’t get used up, because of the little metal stem at the bottom of the wick. If you notice it go out while it still has a pool, just pour it into a melter. Or, if it hardens use a regular butter knife to break it up pull the wick tabs and put the chunks in the melter.(not the kind that uses cheap toxic paraffin tea lights either) They do have soy tea lights everyone should have a few dozen of these.
Or use the melters with the little 40 watt light bulb. (much better for your health)
By doing these things you will have a say candle that lives much longer. And when it goes out use the melter to get another week or two out of your soy candle. With the light bulb melter, I leave it on 24/7 and it is great for dorm rooms, nursing homes and other places that don’t allow burning candles.
